Elena Glebova reflects on the 2025/2026 season

Head coach of Olympic Figure Skating School Elena Glebova described the 2025/2026 season as a successful one for the school. The athletes made significant progress, delivered strong performances at international competitions, and won numerous medals.

According to Elena Glebova, the school continues to actively develop both single skating and pair skating. The number of athletes and coaches continues to grow, united by the common goal of developing strong skaters and achieving outstanding results. Today, Olympic is the largest figure skating school in Estonia in terms of both the number of athletes and coaches.

Elena Glebova emphasized:
“We are inspired by the progress of our athletes and the dedication of our entire coaching team. Every season confirms that we are moving in the right direction. We want to develop even faster, but to achieve this Tallinn needs more ice arenas and more ice time. This will create new opportunities for our athletes and for the future of figure skating in Estonia.”

Elena Glebova: “The Olympics Test Not Only Skill, but Also Character”

Three-time Olympian Elena Glebova shared her thoughts on the figure skating competition at the Milan Olympic Games. According to her, the Olympic tournament once again proved that victory does not always go to the most technically accomplished skater, but to the one who handles psychological pressure the best.

Glebova named Alysa Liu as the biggest revelation of the Games. The American skater made the most of her opportunity, delivering a high-quality performance while remaining composed at the decisive moment.

One of the biggest disappointments of the Olympics, in Glebova’s view, was Ilia Malinin’s performance. Entering the Games as the favorite, he was unable to perform at his best.

“I competed in three Olympic Games myself, and I know the kind of pressure athletes face. That is why Olympic medals have such special value. Malinin remains an outstanding figure skater, but in Milan the psychological pressure proved stronger. Defeats like this are part of elite sport,” Glebova said.

According to Elena Glebova, it is strength of character, together with athletic excellence, that makes the Olympic Games unique and defines true champions.
